Leaving Your Unit Vacant
Going on an overseas holiday?
Spending a weekend away with your family.?
Either way your Unit will be vacant.
Body Corporate recommends taking these steps:
Before Departing
- Inform the Building Manager of your Departure and Return Dates.
- Check the Building Manager has your contact details.
When Departing
- Close and lock all windows and doors.
- Close Main Water Supply Valve. Location varies Unit to Unit so check with Building Manager if you cannot locate that valve.
- Turn Off Gas to BBQ if you have one.
- Turn Off electrical supply to Hob and Oven
- Turn Off Television at wall plug. TV’s are a potential fire risk if left with power on for lengthy periods.
- Remove all garbage to the communal garbage bins.
- If leaving your car in your car parking space then leave car keys with the Building Manager so your car can be relocated if needed.
After Departure
Notify Building Manager of any change in return date.
Insurance
If leaving for an extended period then check with your own Contents Insurers that leaving your Unit vacant for the period does not invalidate your Contents Insurance Policy.
